SOUTH AFRICA

Days 1-4  Stay at The 12 Apostles in Cape Town and area

Days 5-8 Stay at Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve

 

Located in South Africa’s beautiful Eastern Cape Province, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is a renowned conservation and community success story. The reserve comprises 22 000 hectares of African wilderness inhabited by a diverse array of wildlife including hippo, springbok, giraffe, cheetah as well as the famed Big Five. The reserve provides the perfect habitat for protected species such as the black rhino, martial eagle, and blue crane. Visitors can look forward to a wide selection of incredible activities including scenic picnics, guided nature walks with experienced wildlife trackers, sundowners while floating on one of the reserve dams, as well as big game walking safaris and even rhino darting.

Day 8 Stay at Southern Sun OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg

 

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. Although not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks, and ultra-modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction.

 

Days 9-12 Stay at Tintswalo Safari Lodge, Kruger Private Reserves

 

Manyaleti Private Game Reserve- is truly a unique safari destination well off the beaten path. Set within the pristine bush, The Manyaleti Private Game Reserve is one of the world's most beautiful places. This 55200 acre protected wilderness shares an unfenced border with the vast Kruger National Park, as well as the famous Sabi Sands and Timbavati Game Reserves. As such, you can be absolutely sure to only experience the best game viewing possible. As there are no fences between the national park and the private game reserves, wildlife is able to roam freely.

 

Manyeleti is prime “Big Five” territory, offering exceptional good possibilities for viewing the elusive leopard as well as the other Big Five animals (lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant).

AUSTRALIA

15 days in Sydney, Cairns, Melbourne & Perth

Days 1-4 – Sydney

 

Surrounded by hundreds of kilometres of shoreline, national parks and historic sites, the sparkling waters of Sydney Harbour are synonymous with the New South Wales capital city.

Sydney Harbour is a natural playground for boating and exploring the many coves, beaches and inlets of this stunning natural harbor. It is also home to more marine species than any other harbor in the world and is a prime location to observe the incredible Humpback Whale migrating from Antarctica to the Great Barrier Reef from May to November each year. Encounter these gentle giants on a four-hour luxury cruise with Oz whale watching.

From one spectacular beach playground to another, travel on the Manly ferry from Circular Quay across the harbour. Relax in the welcoming atmosphere of Manly Wharf and enjoy a spectacular view with lunch.  Visit nearby Manly Sea Life Sanctuary where you can even dive with sharks. Hire a bike to explore Manly’s hidden coves and beaches, take the scenic walk from Manly to Spit Bridge or join a kayak tour and soak up the serenity at a secluded spot.

Head back to the city and savour the spectacular views and watch the sunset overlooking the harbour and city skyline. Enjoy a cocktail by the water’s edge with world-class dining in one of the most atmospheric settings of the Opera Bar.

AUSTRALIA

Days 5-7 – Cairns

 

It's all action in sunny, sophisticated Cairns, gateway to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and international hub for tanned travellers. There is so much to do here you might want to start slowly. Wander past the lagoon and picnic spots of the Cairns Esplanade, do an Aboriginal walking tour or bliss out on the white sands of Palm Cove. Alternatively, dive into action with a sky-dive or bungee-jump. Snorkel or scuba dive with brilliant fish and coral or sail past pristine islands on the Great Barrier Reef. Day-trip to the tranquil, butterfly-fringed village of Kuranda and discover Cairns' great restaurant and bar scene.

 

Days 8-11 – Melbourne

 

There's no time for sleep in Melbourne, a city where culture buffs, sport nuts, fashion lovers and foodies all have their niche. Discover cafes, bars and boutiques in city laneways sprawling secretly off ordered streets. Soak up the vibrant riverside atmosphere from Southbank and visit Federation Square, where creative and café culture meet. Cruise down the Yarra and wander the lawns and lakes of the Royal Botanic Gardens. Soak up the unique energy of the city's diverse precincts, from upmarket South Yarra to beachside St Kilda and edgy Fitzroy. Then a day trip to the beaches, wineries, galleries and golf courses of the Mornington Peninsula.

 

Days 12-15 – Perth

 

Pack in the sights to your Perth holiday, known for its sunshine, natural beauty and relaxed pace. Sail down the shimmering, blue Swan River or look over the city and its waterways from Kings Park. Swim, surf or just watch the sunset from Cottesloe Beach, then hit Northbridge's cheap eateries and trendy bars. Dine out on Indian Ocean seafood and explore Australia's best-preserved 19th-century streetscapes in colourful Fremantle. Dedicate a day to discovering Rottnest Island by bike, boat or foot. Swim and surf from perfect white beaches, snorkel with tropical fish and coral and get up close to diverse wildlife.

Day 8  Wander Corfu, studded with its’ whitewashed houses, Byzantine churches, and the remains of Venetian fortresses and Greek temples. 

 

Day 9  From Taormina, Sicily board a helicopter and soar over Mount Etna for the best possible view of the largest active volcano in Europe

 

Day 10  Near Sorrento, visit the astounding remains of the Roman city of Pompeii, buried in ash by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and take in the beauty of the Amalfi Coast

RIVER CRUISE

River Cruise – 11 day Budapest to Nuremberg with Prague

Day 1 - Arrive in Budapest and embark your luxurious river ship.  Enjoy a welcome dinner on board, complete with views of the city glittering under the night sky.

Day 2 -  Discover the two distinct sides of this Hungarian capital—the cobbled hills of Buda and the grand boulevards of Pest, linked by eight stately bridges that span the Danube. Climb historic Castle Hill to see the Royal Palace and see Matthias Church, the stunning setting for the coronations and weddings of the Habsburg royalty. Alternatively, explore Budapest through the lens of its Jewish history; hike the Buda Hills that rise beyond the city center; or venture to the charming riverfront town of Szentendre, home to a thriving artist colony.

Day 3 -  Cruise the Danube toward Vienna, tracing the border of Hungary and Slovakia before crossing into Austria. Relax in the lounge in views of colorful waterfront towns and hilltop fortifications.

RIVER CRUISE

Day 4 -  Choose from among several excursions today. Stay in Vienna to visit Schönbrunn Palace, the baroque summer residence of the imperial family. You may also choose to take a guided tour of the Museum of Natural History for an inside look at its meteorite exhibit, co-curated by National Geographic grantee Ludovic Ferrière. Or opt to peruse the galleries of the Belvedere Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Gustav Klimt paintings, including “The Kiss.” Alternatively, visit Bratislava for a guided tour through the cobbled streets of the old town. Venture into St. Martin’s Cathedral, a massive Gothic structure built in the 13th century on the site of a Romanesque church, and see the simple Church of the Poor Clares.

 

Day 5 -  Glide into Austria’s lush Wachau Valley and dock at Melk for a tour of its Benedictine abbey, one of the world’s most magnificent baroque buildings. Or take a more active excursion, cycling along the Danube from Dürnstein to Melk or hiking to the hilltop ruins of a medieval castle. Or visit a local winery for a guided tour of the cellars and vines, followed by a tasting of the region’s celebrated Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings.

This evening, sip sundowners in a beautiful location in the Wachau Valley.

 

Day 6 -  Today, choose between excursions to two World Heritage sites. Explore Salzburg, strolling the storybook streets of the Old Town and visiting the Schloss Mirabell and its stunning manicured gardens.  Or head to the Czech town of Ceský Krumlov— a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets with medieval, baroque, and Renaissance houses; lively cafés; and hidden squares. Alternatively, venture to the historic salt mines outside of Salzburg and learn about the life and work of the miners.

 

Day 7 -  Set at the confluence of the Danube, Naab, and Regen Rivers, Regensburg once served as a free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire. On a guided visit, see the town’s splendid Gothic cathedral, 12th-century stone bridge, and the Porta Praetoria—the ancient Roman city gate. Alternatively, tour the historic Kuchlbauer Brewery and its whimsical tower—a tribute to modern art. Or take a local ferry across the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey, home to the world’s oldest monastic brewery. Explore the abbey, then head to the courtyard and sip on a pint of their popular Weltenburger Kloster Barock Dunkel.

 

Day 8 -  Explore this fascinating and ancient Bavarian city, dating back to the 11th century, on an orientation tour with your local expert guide. Learn about the infamous history Nuremberg is renowned for, and discover some of the important sights that shaped modern history, before journeying by coach to Prague, one of the truly magical cities of Europe. Complete your journey with a three-night stay at one of our luxurious city central hotels.

 

Day 9 -  This morning join your knowledgeable local guide on a fascinating walk through the city and view the famous Astronomical Clock. Afterward, you might wish to venture across the world-famous Charles Bridge. This incredibly beautiful structure was commissioned in 1357 by Charles IV after the Judith Bridge was destroyed by floods.

 

Day 10 -  Stroll this magnificent city at your leisure. Situated on the bank of the River Vltava in central Bohemia, the beautiful city of Prague is rich in history and home to some of the world’s most striking architectural wonders. There’s no need to fret or plan ahead – your Tour Director is on hand to take care of everything.

 

Day 11 -  After breakfast transfer to the Airport. Prague is the end of your tour but the start of a lifetime of wonderful memories.
