Rene and I are planning our next trip to Africa for this Fall. We had such an outstanding experience last November in Uganda with the gorilla and chimpanzee trekking along with so many other great safari activities.
This October/November, we will be heading off to Botswana, Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side, and then Kenya. This will be our 5th trip to this great continent, that we love so very much. It all started with a bucket list trip for Rene back in 2008 when we first visited South Africa and our love and passion for this great place hasn't stopped since then.
I thought I could focus on some of the fabulous properties that we'll be visiting in Africa including a couple of Virtuoso ones in Botswana and Zimbabwe.
The one depicted here is Xigera Safari Lodge with just 12 beautiful suites located in the heart of Botswana's Okavango Delta. They say this lodge is "a labor of love, a miraculous and enchanting transformation that will create experiences that are, quite simply extraordinary". This is the first of 2 'Virtuoso' properties that we'll be staying at in the Fall.
The other Virtuoso property is Victoria Falls River Lodge, that sits on the 'mighty Zambezi River', so close to Victoria Falls that you can see the spray in the distance. They have 13 tented, thatch-roof suites that are built on raised decks for prime viewing.
Also, in Botswana, we'll be staying at the Chobe Game Lodge in Chobe National Park. It's a fully Ecotourism-certified 5 star safari lodge enabling both land and water safaris on the Chobe River.
All of these wonderful properties are part of a special 8 day opportunity that I have as a Travel Advisor with African Travel Inc. These folks have 45 years of experience focused on planning and operating safaris in Africa and are fabulous to work with.
The latter part of our trip this Fall includes 9 days in Kenya. Ever since watching "Out of Africa" for the first time, many years ago, we've wanted to go to Kenya and now's our chance with another great operator as well.
This particular adventure is called Enchanting Kenya By Air and includes visits to Nairobi, Amboseli National Park, the Masai Mara, and Samburu National Park. While in Nairobi, we'll be able to visit the Giraffe Center, Karen Blixen's 'Out of Africa' museum, and David Sheldrick's Elephant Sanctuary.
The great thing about this opportunity is the fact that much of the travel from location to location is by air. This way there's more time to appreciate each of the fabulous locations we'll be visiting and staying at.
